Tecnovia Angola will rehabilitate road and historical site in Cuito Cuanavale

triangulo Tumpo Tecnovia 00Tecnovia Angola will execute two contracts worth € 36.7 million in southern Angola, in the province of Kuando Kubango, at the site of the historic battle of Cuito Cuanavale.

One of the contracts, worth 4,981 million kwanzas (26 million euros), was awarded by the Angolan Government at the end of July 2017, and envolves the rehabilitation of 7.21 kilometers of the  280 National road, between Rio Longa and the city of Cuito Cuanavale.

The other contract, awarded at the beginning of August, worth 2,041 million kwanzas (10.7 million euros), involves the rehabilitation of the Triangle Tumbo Parade, considered the main point of Cuito Cuanavale's batle, which took place on 23 March 1988.

With an area of 11,628 square meters, the intervention contemplates three historical zones: the ceremonial zone of the Tumpo, the zone of the old anti-mining tank Oliphant of the South African Army, and the historical zone of the Command post and Bunker of the 25th Brigade. In the photographs below are schematically implanted the interventions to be performed.

The works will improve the access of the population, giving greater dignity to this historical site and honoring all those who participated in this combat considered as the largest military combat in Africa after the Second World War.
